Airport Transportation Vehicle Maintenance brake tips

Atlanta Airport Transportation's Service vehicles use a front disc/rear disc brake setup, Disc brakes use a circular rotor (the disc) that rotates with the wheel. When the brakes are engaged, a set of pads that are attached to a caliper clamps down on the disc to help bring the vehicle to a stop. This type of brake setup allows our airport shuttle vehicles to stop very quickly without causing a skid which would make thew driver loose control of the vehicle. Most brake manufacturers recommend visual inspection especially every year unless the vehicles are driven over 1500 miles per month. Every vehicle in our fleet has a brake inspection every 90 days. Reliable maintenance is the key to keeping passenger safe and getting the to the Atlanta Airport on time.
